Dear Brothers & Sisters:

I hope everyone who attended the Local #48 Picnic at Stone Mountain had a good time. The weather cooperated and the food was not bad; we will be looking for another location for next year and if anyone has a suggestion please let us know. All members should have received the new prescription/medical cards from the Asbestos Workers Medical Fund. I have had to use my prescription card twice since I received it and it has worked great. By using the card and getting the discounted rate it cost me only 2% of the total drug cost that I had to pay out of pocket. If anyone is having any issues with the card please contact the Union Hall. Our work load right now is slowing but we should start improving as several bigger jobs are set to begin next month. Plant Vogtle is about to start putting Insulators on in a few weeks and this project could last up to 3 or 4 years if a member wanted to stay through the construction process. We are also taking applications for Apprentices at this time and if you know someone who has not applied please tell them to call me or Kenny Slaven so we can get their application in before the deadline.

Fraternally,

Phil Rainwater
